Trumpet Lessons, Brass Lessons with trumpet teacher, OJ Blackwell

O.J. Blackwell attended University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2000. Courses studied include Jazz Composition, Jazz Arranging, Jazz Ensemble/Orchestra, Advanced Jazz Improv. and Jazz History. O.J. received a Master of Music in Studio Jazz writing from the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Florida. Mr. Blackwell has had extensive performing experience. His current achievements include live and recorded performances with Nelson Rangell, Ken Walker, Alan Hood, Hugh Reagan, Pete Olstad and Darren Kramer. He has also performed with various groups including Freddy and the Soul Shakers, Mood Express, O-Tone Brass Band and his own group Mistura Fina

O.J. has been teaching since 1998 privately and at the Ascot Music Academy, Mars Music Academy and currently at Evergreen School of Music. He is dedicated to inspiring young people through music and introducing new generations to Jazz and contemporary music as well as teaching traditional repertoire.
