Saxophone Lessons – Saxophone Teacher Matt White
Matthew White attended University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in 2001. While there he majored in Jazz and Commercial Music Studies with a concentration in tenor saxophone and was selected as co-winner of Lamont Made Composition Contest.
Matt has performed and recorded with numerous groups and artists on all four saxophone, flute, clarinet, keyboards and organ. Ensembles Matt has performed and composed for include Dave LeMieux and the House of Soul, The Otone Brass Band, Kizumba, As One, The Mood Express, The Filthy Children, Fina Dupa, Justin Case Blues Band, The Funky Babylonians, Peneplain Jazz Project, Irie Still, The Denver Municipal Band, The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra and Buckner Funk’n Jazz Band in the year in which it won Westword’s Best Jazz Band Award. Styles include Jazz, Funk, R&B, Blues, Reggea, Gospel, Latin, Rock and Classical.
Matt’s teaching experience includes private saxophone instruction of all ages since 1998. He also has experience teaching flute, clarinet, piano, improvisation, theory, arranging and composition. Along with private instruction, he also is adjunct faculty at Kend Denver Day School where he assists with the instrumental programs of both the Middle and High School there.
