Guitar Lessons with Doug Swenning

Doug SwenningDoug Swenning moved to Colorado in 1991, and began teaching at Evergreen Music in 1997 and has recently moved to teach at Evergreen School of Music. Doug teaches electric and acoustic guitar styles. He encourages the students with improvisational technique and formats the lesson plans with the individual students needs in mind.

Doug studied Jazz Theory/Improvisation at Merritt College in Oakland CA. with: Recording Artist, George Duke, who recorded with Frank Zappa. He also studied Jazz Guitar Theory/Technique with: Dave Creamer, who recorded with Miles Davis, and The Mel Martin Quintet and Jazz Guitar Theory/Technique with: Windam Hill Recording Artist, Tuck Andress, of the duo, “Tuck & Patti”.

During his time in the San Francisco Bay area he performed in/with: “The Natural Four”, performing original R&B and Gospel Music. “Rim & the Believers”, an African Funk Ensemble, performing original, Jazz inspired dance music. “Footprints”, an original Jazz Fusion Ensemble. As well as the Pit Band for the musical “Rebels; Runaways or Hero’s?” a musical drama about the Nat Turner Rebellion written by Michael Lange, with music written by Larry Batiste.

Doug currently performs with local Blues and R&B artists.
